Total length 8-9cm - wing span about 24cm. The colour is variable from dark to light greyish-brown - underparts whitish or buffy-white. Wing membranes are blackish-brown. They live in small groups of two or three huddled under the barks of trees or under roofs of buildings. Their flight is rather slow and fluttering - jinking and turning in search of flying insects.
