The Hermanus Botanical Society raises funds for numerous activities:

• Maintenance and development of the Fernkloof Gardens
• Management of the Fernkloof Indigenous Nursery
• Management and maintenance of the Society's buildings in the Reserve - Office, Library, Herbarium, Research Centre and Visitors' Centre
  
• Assistance with alien clearing in the Reserve
  
• Maintenance of the hiking trails in the Reserve
• Hosting talks and social gatherings
• Hosting the Botanical Society Website and the Botanical Society Newsletter
• Recording the Reserve’s floral wealth
• Hosting an annual Flower Festival - one of the Society’s biggest fundraising events is the Flower Festival, held mid- to end September.
