Robust, densely leafy shrub up to 1.5m. Leaves narrowly-oblong, sometimes shortly 3-toothed above, ascending, overlapping, confined to upper part of the stem; flowerheads radiate, several, densely crowded at branch tips, yellow, 30-50mm across; enfolded below by 5-6 rows of greenish bracts with dark edges, innermost longest with golden papery tips.
