Hairless, sparsely-branched shrublet up to 30cm. Leafy branches bear needle-like leaves 8-15mm long; leafless stems arise at the tips of branches, bearing single heads, about 18mm across, of pale-yellow flowers; they are enfolded below by a double circle of greenish bracts, the length of the inner double that of the outer.
