Tuberous, tufted perennial up to 30cm. Leaves on long stalks, with a single large lobe on the end, this lobe is quite deeply toothed or lobed itself, usually no lobes on the petiole. Flowerheads radiate, 1-few on scaly scapes, with dark pink or sometimes white rays; involucral bracts broad.
