Delicate, sprawling shrublet up to 45cm. Leaves linear-lanceolate, margins slightly revolute and ciliate below. Flowers usually white, sometimes pale-blue, 1-3 in axils, bell-shaped, about 5mm across, usually sessile (without a flower stalk); fruits 4-15mm long.
Latin: sessio = seated, sitting; -ilis = capacity, quality: referring to the sessile (stalkless) flowers sitting close upon the body of the stalk.
