Brittle-stemmed succulent shrublet up to 60cm in height. Leaves oblanceolate, crowded at branch tips, margins entire or slightly lobed or toothed, woolly in axils. Flower heads radiate, mostly solitary on elongate peduncles, yellow; pappus of ray florets much elongated in fruit.
Latin: carno, fleshy, thick: referring to the succulent, fleshy leaves.
