Glandular-woolly root parasite up to 40cm with fleshy stems covered with scale-like leaves. Flowers arranged in a spike, dull brownish mauve and yellow, calyx split above and below.
Each plant may produce up to 200 000 seeds in a single season and can therefore become serious pests in disturbed places.
