Compact shrublet or an upright willowy plant up to 90om. Leaves usually long, rigid and sharp-tipped, but may also be quite short; fairly tubular flowers 12-22mm long are slightly constricted at the mouth and are bunched together at ends of branches; they range widely in colour from white to yellow, orange, brown, pink, red or purple as well as being two-toned.
