Erect, multi-stemmed, resprouting shrublet up to 60cm, with many-branched stems. Leaves in 3's, 3-5mm long, smooth, densely overlapping; tight clusters of flowers at ends of branches, tubular, crimson-red, sticky; far-exerted anthers with a characteristic kink below.
Resprouts from a fire resistant rootstock; flowers strongly after fire.
Greek: mono = one, adelphus = brother; referring to the closely adpressed anthers which eventually separate.
