Sprawling monoecious or dioecious shrub up to 2m. Leaves soft and grass-like, sheathing the stem, 30-60mm long; stipules narrowly triangular 4-10mm long; leaf-blade linear-lanceolate. Flowers: male: stamens c. 30; female: calyx tube 4-5mm long, greenish and furrowed.
