Rhizome is short and prostrate. Fronds are lanceolate and up to 27cm long, pinnate; pinnae are glabrous and margins entire; the base of the pinnae has truncate lobes which overlap the rachis, (main stem of the pinnate frond); sori are linear and cover most of the undersurface.
Plants growing on forest floor are much larger than those in drier parts or rock crevices..
Latin: punctus = a prick or small hole or spot; referring to the finely dotted hydathodes on the pinnae; (hydathodes are pores present on the margins of a leaf where the veins end).
Habitat
Shaded forest floor and on streambanks in fairly wet conditions.
