A reseeding shrub occurring in dense stands, up to 3m, with many side branches more slender than the main branch. Old flowerheads often persist on the plant. Leaves are spreading, stalkless, very thin and up to 12mm long. The white large, globular flowerheads can be up to 15mm in diameter and are borne singly on 4cm long flowerstalks forming flat-topped clusters. The flowers exude a coffee-like scent hence the common name 'Coffee Bush'.
