Diffuse trailing, evergreen perennial with slender branches, slightly woody at base. Leaf blades divided, feathery in appearance, hairless or sparsely hairy above with dense white hairs beneath; symmetrical flowers 15-30mm across on slender stalks, white with dark veins or pink to mauve.

Greek: geranos = a crane; referring to the seedpod of this genus which resembles the head and beak of a crane.

Latin: in- = tendency, cani = grey hairs; referring to the dense hairs, packed closely so as to give the appearance of whiteness to the surface.
