Grass-like, hairy perennial sedge with horizontal rhizomes. Leaf blades short, hairy along margins, flat, linear and with a V-shaped midrib. Flowerheads are compact and rounded, spikelets hairy; stamens bright yellow when exerted from the florets.
Can form large colonies.
