Small straggling shrublet up to 40cm with a few short side branches. Leaves are short, minimal; flowers are small, calycine (spreading calyx), hairy, white to pink (flushed pink on Hermanus mountains), broadly urn-shaped, 2-3mm long; anthers with beards.
Greek: pogon = beard, anthera = anthers; referring to the bearded anthers of this species.
