Erect shrublet up to 1/1.8m. Leaves are in 3's; minute white, pink or red flowers, urn-shaped to bell-shaped, slightly sticky; conspicuous, bright red plate-like stigmas project beyond the flowers.
Latin: hispidulus = rough, with bristles; referring to hairiness of the leaves and stems.
