Densely branched shrublet with rather weak red stems up to 40cm. Leaves glossy with translucent-dots, usually with red tips, 6-8mm in diam.; flowers in small clusters, deep mauve, held above the leaves; petals are spoon-shaped; fruits 5-locular, 8-10mm in diam.
Flowers do not close at night hence species name, inclaudens, meaning 'not shutting up'.
