A hairy, glandular, hemiparasitic plant up to 25cm. Leaves and stems are covered with short, sticky hairs which often trap small insects; leaves coarsely lobed; creamish white flowers, sessile (stalkless), have a distinct hood and a reddish lip.
Often found in dampish, disturbed places where it parasitizes the roots of different grasses.
