Rhizomatous geophyte up to 25cm forming diffuse low cushions. Stems strongly compressed and 2-winged. Leaves linear, 1-3mm wide, glaucous, bluish-green in colour. Flowers blue, tepals 18mm long; style with 3 fringed lobes; spathes and bracts green to brown with wide translucent margins.

Capsules short and three-winged.
