Tufted, tuberous perennial up to 45cm. Leaves, narrow, lanceolate-tubular, fleshy, usually dry at flowering, surrounded at the base by a fibrous sheath; bears dense raceme of yellow flowers; fluffy stamens; fruits are ellipsoid and carried upright.
