Fernkloof Hall

Set in the beautiful gardens of the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, the Hall comprises a stone building 10m square with chairs and trestle tables to accommodate 80 people. It is ideal for weddings, parties, functions, workshops and presentations.

The Hall has good lighting, power points and a projector screen, but no projector.  It is adjacent to the recently refurbished spacious kitchen, which comprises a double oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer, urn, washing facilities and substantial workspace.  Again, cutlery and crockery are adequate for 80 people, or the kitchen may be hired merely for beverages.

Hire rates are very affordable.  Please note that wine glasses and table cloths are not provided.

The grassed area in front of the Hall with benches is particularly popular.

Galpin Hut

Situated on Galpin Peak, a 2 hour hike from the Visitors' Centre, the small Hut was built by the Hermanus Botanical Society in 1978.

Starting at the Visitors' Centre at an elevation of just under 100m, it is a one hour hike up to the bench and viewpoint at the top of Adder Ladder at an elevation of 300m, passing through the Boekenhout Forest on the way. It is a further half hour across the Jeep Track to the White Rock (more pink with the algae), where one can take the left or right paths to Galpin Hut, a further half hour away at an elevation of 500m. A magnificent spot to enjoy the views, the fynbos and the peace!

The Hut can sleep 4 people in 2 double bunks.  Facilities are basic and hikers should bring all their cooking, lighting, food and drink requirements. There is a good Enviroloo.

No fires or dogs allowed.

Parking is available at the Visitors' Centre

The current hire rate for the Hut is R200 per night all inclusive
