Description

An attractive low growing shrubby plant with finely divided leaves incised to the midrib; often seen trailing its hairy stems amongst rocks. Showy flowers sit above the leaves on long stems and give the appearance of butterflies amongst the fynbos; flowers are pale pink to white and have striking beetroot-red markings on the upper two larger petals.

Latin: longus = long; caulis = stem: referring to the long flower stems.

Habitat

Sandy, often coastal flats and amongst rocks.
