This species grows naturally in the eastern Cape; it has become invasive and widespread on lower paths of the reserve. It should not be planted in Hermanus gardens as the seed spreads widley.

Stiff, erect, densely leafy shrublet up to 1m with white woolly stems. Leaves overlapping, oval, revurcurving at ends with bristly margins; bears radiate flowerheads, usually blue, occasionally white, with a central yellow disc.
