Insectivorous, rhizomatous perennial up to 30cm, woody below. Leaves petiolate (with long stalks), linear to elliptic, stipules ovate-lacerate, brown; flowers several, pink to magenta, secund (to one side of the flowering stem), flower stalk curved outwards below; stigmas swollen.

Latin: capensis = pertaining to the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Peninsula.
